God Loves ME!

That has been a recurring theme over these last few days. And isn't that what Easter is all about? In Romans 5 v 8 the Apostle Paul says "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." I have been reminded of that in a few different ways.

On Sunday morning, we were reminded from God's Word that it was God's love for us that motivated him to send Jesus to take our punishment on the cross.

Yesterday, when studying the Life of Christ, we were taken to the verse in Mark chapter 8 that tells us that "the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again." That was just after Peter had made the great confession that Jesus was the Messiah. It was his love that made him the suffering King.

This afternoon, we were looking at the imagery in the Song of Solomon of the Lover and the Loved. While this is seen as a perfect example of human love, nonetheless we can apply it to the relationship that Christ has with his Church, his Bride.

Then we saw a DVD about the wonders of the galaxies of stars and were taken to pictures of stars thousands of light years away. Amazingly, in one of those far off places, there is a constellation that is in the shape of a Cross. The amazing thing is that although God the Creator made this infinite number of stars and planets, the most glorious thing that he did was to send Jesus for us.

God loves us SO much that he was prepared to go to those lengths. It will cause us to say with Isaac Watts:

"Love so amazing, so Divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all."
